Sam's racing name was Izzy Handsome and he used to race out of Poole in Dorset.
At least twice a day he demands a minimum of a twenty minute walk and luckily enough we live in a gorgeous village with a huge variety of walks.
Sam is around 8 now and has gone prematurely grey. Probably in sympathy with me. Luckily he is not losing his hair quite so fast though. People often assume that greyhounds need a lot of walking. They have fast twitch muscles and burn their energy off in a short space of time preferring to devote as much time as possible to rest and relaxation. Any time left is spent eating and being stroked.
This is Sam's favourite place to walk and explore. It is the Church of All Saints in Martock. Whether exploring the fields or lanes Sam loves to sniff and also enjoys checking out the gravestones old and new in the church yard. This picture was not captured with any of my professional cameras, just an Iphone which I suppose goes to prove that the best camera is the one you have with you.
This is Lyndsey. She often accompanies Sam and I on our walks and in the absence of a suitable model she reluctantly stands in. Sam is the second ex racing greyhound that has come to live with us and he and his late brother have provided endless hours of affection and photographic possibilities.
